Clubs all over the state of Wisconsin come together to collect, salt and prep the hides donated by hunters.
The Wisconsin Lions Foundation(WLF) collects these hides from the end of October through December. WLF uses funds from the hides to provide programs including eye glass recycling, diabetes awareness, hunger projects, and the Wisconsin Lions Camp.
All the hides collected go to a company based in Wisconsin who tans and preps the hides for use. These hides are then used to create leather work gloves. These gloves are available from most Lions Clubs, and at local retailers including Menards and Fleet Farm. This partnership generated more that $100,000 last year.
Did you know the Wisconsin Lions have a 400 acre camp for individuals with multiple types of disabilities. They house both youth and adults throughout the summer. The camp allows these campers to have a summer camp experience, including outdoor camping, swimming, water sports, and a full ropes course. The camp is a special place, and most important, it doesn't cost the campers anything. These campers get to take advantage of camp using funds donated by deer hides, and Lions clubs all over the state. If you know anyone that might qualify, please visit the WLF website below: https://www.wisconsinlionscamp.com/
